Whitherward LIVE

  • The Chocolate Bar

Whiterward will be performing LIVE at The Chocolate Bar Saturday, July 30th, 7-9pm.

Whitherward is the partnership between singer-songwriters Ashley E. Norton and Edward A. Williams. Founded in Nashville in December of 2013, the duo has built a catalog of varied, intricate songs that explore the effects of the human condition. Beginning their career together in the writer's rounds of Nashville, Ash and Ed grew into a full-time touring duo with a move out west to Denver in late 2014.
After a stint along the I-25 corridor, the pair decided to hit the road and not look back, embarking on several multi-week tours across the country, through cities such as San Diego, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Omaha, St. Louis, and many, many more. The duo currently has three self-produced EPs under their belt, showcasing their hard-hitting lyrical style, thunderous vocals and willingness to experiment, Whitherward brings a new dimension to the indie folk world.

Genna & Jesse LIVE

Genna & Jesse LIVE

Genna & Jesse are defined by a unique alchemy born of the quirky chemistry, intricate vocal harmonies and ardent storytelling which infuse their songwriting and vibrant performances. With whispers (and sometimes roars) of folk, country, jazz, blues, art song, and popular music from the ‘60s and ‘70s, their self-chosen genre “acoustic-soul” doesn’t quite encompass what they conjure up in their joyful live shows and sensual, deliberate albums. These two shrug off music industry conventions in favor of doing what feels good, and this genre-defying dedication to being current and free has an exciting and irresistible effect.

Drawing inspiration from their romantic nomadic lifestyle, Genna & Jesse might best be described as modern troubadours, generously offering listeners glimpses of their always-moving world with something fresh, true and genuinely independent.

Genna & Jesse are currently touring internationally to promote their newest release, "Wild Enough To Try.” Their ongoing tour, which includes club venues, house concerts, restaurants, cafes, and festivals, is being done with as small a carbon footprint as possible.

Michael Howard LIVE

Michael Howard is a songwriter born and raised in the wilds of Alaska. Spinning "stand-out folk songs" Michael brings energy, passion, and a "fierceness in his music" to each of his performances (Anchorage PRESS). He is currently touring in support of his second-full length album "The Martyr and the Magician" which includes tracks produced by Jacob Winik (The Magnetic Fields, Pomplamoose, Samantha Crain).

Michael was recently selected as afinalist in the NPR Mountain Stage Radio Show NewSong national songwriting competition (2014), and in his short career he has opened for talented songwriters including Jeffrey Martin, John Craigie, J Wagner, and Samantha Crain.

"Howard's voice is so different sounding, he’s transportive, it’s a crafted thing of remarkable beauty, a record for a sunny moment in one breath, the next your darkest hour...You feel its greatness, it feels important...it’s so difficult to write words to qualify how good, how vital this record is."
